Raise Your Hand If You're A 20-Something & Are Scared Of All The Potential You Hold.

Dreams give us a direction but they stay in our heads.

We need to change dreams into visions that have actionable steps behind them. A person can dream for days but nothing will get done until you take the first step.

Need some help? Here is a snippet of an article that I read this morning that got me motivated:

2) Use "Minimum Viable Effort"

Want to floss more often? Okay, just floss one tooth. Sound silly? That’s fine. Just like your mom told you: focus on baby steps

Pair a cognitive activity with a physical activity. It seems like common sense, but sometimes folks need a reminder. Here are some examples of my favourite multitasking activities:

Did you know that doodlers and fidgeters recall 29% more information (especially DULL information) in comparison to those who keep their hands idle?

Have you ever had a day where you wanted to get stuff done but the odds were against you? Maybe a day binge-watching shows and movies on Netflix? Or possibly, being scatter-brained and working on 7-10 things interchangeably in a day? Hopefully the steps below will help streamline your work practice for a better work day!

Success: Step by Step - Weekly Goals

Success: Step by Step - Weekly Goals

As ya'll know, I've been laying out 2016 with the help of this fabulous article. Melissa Joy Kong shares:

When you break your monthly sub-goals down like this, you basically create a detailed road map for making stuff happen. It seems so obvious, but no one plans like this. That’s why most people fail (in addition to not creating strategies to eradicate triggers that lead to wasting time).

"Butch Please" at a Board Meeting

"Butch Please" at a Board Meeting

When I joined a board and walked into my first meeting it was filled with BIPOC professionals, people working full-time jobs outside of being on the board. I waltzed in, settled down, and boy oh boy! I was wearing my Butch Please hat. There was one person in particular who gave me a deadly stare. I continued to be carefree - paying attention to the person talking. During check-in I intentionally introduced myself as a person who would hold the board accountable to the community. My allegiance is with folks using the services and it shouldn't matter what I wear, what matters is making sure we provide the best services to the community.

Success: Step by Step - Monthly Goals

As 2015 dwindles to a close, I made more time to lay out my 2016 path. As a Capricorn I have a tendency to want to control as much as possible - this year taught me to be flexible and create guidelines instead of having strict expectations. Last time I outlined my yearly goals with the help and guidance of a fantastic article. As you probably already see, my large goals for 2016 are (1 - 60%) learning and research; (2 - 30%) employment and saving; (3 - 10%) health changes.

Success: Step by Step

Success: Step by Step

Goal creation, planning, and execution is tricky. Starting in 2010, every year on my birthday I would set annual goals. I called them "flexi plans" because I know that change is inevitable. In 2015 created a 5-year goal projection. I wished to get married to my high-school sweetheart, own two dogs, clear majority of my OSAP loan, and take a trip to Japan. *PFFFFTTT* Zero of four have been completed within the past 5 years - all goals were very possible, but didn't happen.

This year I created an 11 year projection with the help of this article, by Melissa Joy Kong, called The Most Effective Goal Setting Plan You'll Ever Find.
